COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS REGARDING

LASER SPIDER VEIN TREATMENT:

Q.      How does Laser spider vein treatment work?

A.      The Cool Glide ExcelTM laser emits a pulse of intense light which is sent through a cooled hand piece to the treatment site.  The laser energy is directed to the veins you wish to have eliminated.  The laser energy is absorbed by the blood and shuts down the vein.  This is done without damage to the surrounding tissue.  The destroyed veins are reabsorbed by the body and the blood flow is directed to larger and deeper veins, where it belongs.

Q.      Can veins be treated from any area of the body?

A.      The most common areas to be treated are the thighs and lower legs for women, face and nose for women and men.  Cherry hemangiomas (red dots) and spider hemangiomas are found on women and men on arms, legs, and upper chest.

Q.      I am embarrassed about my veins.  May I come in without anybody knowing that I do this?

A.      Our staff keeps all information very confidential.  We never share names of our clients or any information regarding them.

Q.      Who performs the laser spider vein treatment and what is their training?

A.      We have trained medical professionals performing laser spider vein treatment, who went through vigorous training before treating clients.  All received training from Cutera (the maker of our laser).  After completion of this, extra training was sought from companies who have done this for years.  All medical professionals do on-going training through webinars and provider workshops.  We aim to be the best and safest at what we do.

Q.      Does it hurt?

A.      The hand piece has a cooling tip which effectively numbs the area from any sensitivities and protects the skin.  Most clients experience an occasional feeling similar to a rubber band snap.  Many clients have no sensitivity.  For those who are extra sensitive, a topical anesthetic can be applied, which numbs the area before treatment.

Q.      Is this permanent?

A.      There is NO known treatment currently available that will have all of your blood vessels gone forever.  However, Laser is able to offer “long term reduction”.  In practical terms, this means that a reduction generally of 75% - 90% after the appropriate number of treatments (2 - 3 for facial vessels and 4 - 5 for legs).

Laser vein treatment has only been done for approximately 10 years.  As studies continue, we will know more.  For now, what is known is that the results last several years.  Many clients had their last treatment many years ago and still have a great level of vein reduction.  The results will depend on heredity, medication, and hormonal status.

Q.      Is it expensive?

A.      The price is dependent on the area you wish to be treated.  The cost will vary depending on veins to be treated.  Cost will be given at consultation.  Pricing starts at $100 for cherry hemangiomas (red dots) and $250 for spider veins per treatment. It usually takes 2- 3 treatments for facial vessels and 4 - 5 treatments for legs.

Q.      How can I find out more?

A.      We offer free laser consultations.  Call us at 815-220-0979 to schedule your appointment and find out more information.

Skin care truth: You need to apply an SPF 30 or higher every day, rain or shine.
